Inspired by the five elements of ancient Chinese culture: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal, the Marriott Vacations Kids Club is designed to connect children with nature through immersive and thoughtful design. Each area of the space reflects these elements, using carefully selected colors, materials, and textures to create a balanced, harmonious environment that fosters natural exploration and interaction. The furniture, crafted from Para-Wood an eco-friendly and locally sourced material from rubber trees is both durable and sustainable. Every material used is chosen not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for ease of maintenance and long-lasting durability, ensuring a space that is both beautiful and functional.
Areas and Their Elements:
- Reception and Theater (Water):
This area embodies the Water element, with the Turtle Stage crafted from Para-Wood and accented in soothing blue tones, reflecting the serene beauty of the sea. At the top of the stage, a family of marine turtle mascots invites children to connect with nature and develop a deeper appreciation for the ocean. Marriott’s activities, including the Kids Turtle Warriors program, inspire respect for wildlife by educating young guests about the sick and injured turtles being rehabilitated at the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation. Through these programs, children have the opportunity to engage closely with these incredible creatures, fostering a sense of care and responsibility for marine life. - Video Games Lounge (Earth):
Representing the Earth element, the TV cabinet is designed in the shape of a mountain, bringing a natural touch to this gaming corner. Playful stone-shaped poufs complete the scene, reinforcing the earthy, grounded theme. - Activity Tables (Wood):
The Wood element dominates this zone, with a customized modular table featuring removable and interchangeable panels that adapt to different activities. Engraved benches with letters representing each natural element. Wood cabinets and shelves provide ample storage for activity materials. - Obstacle Zone (Fire):
Represented by the Fire element, this zone features a gradient of yellow, orange, and red on the padding and slide, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. The remaining components, crafted from wood and shades of blue, bring balance and harmony to the overall design. - Toddler Playground (Five Elements):
A colorful, dynamic space where all five elements meet, the toddler playground is designed for small children to explore safely. Padded surfaces, geometric shapes, and wooden educational toys encourage development while ensuring safety. A custom-designed wooden market stand is also part of this zone, fostering imaginative play.
This carefully curated space fosters environmental awareness and play, while integrating sustainable and locally sourced materials to create a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children.
